Pastoral Prayer - November 16th, 2014

Abba Father,

We give our thanks and praise to you this day...God Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.....as  our souls and voices rise up to meet you as the day rises to meet the sun.  As our voices rise up, we pray that we let it sink down deep how great and awesome and big you are.  That our puff of wind praise…that our shadowy passing souls even show up on your cosmic radar…that’s how humungous and whole-ly different you are than us.  Yet…you do see us…you do hear us.  More than that you care for us, you correct us, love us…even die for us.

Son of God, thank you for moving into our neighborhood and being the exact representation of the seemingly invisible God.  Forgive us when we move away from you when you move into a neighborhood we don't like.  Forgive us when we remove ourselves from the neighbors and neighborhoods that you are developing.  Forgive us for not loving the people you love.

That’s why we need you now more than ever, Holy Spirit.  Move and inspire us to tend to the sick…to walk alongside the grieving…to restore those poor in spirit and stuff.  Give us new and different eyes to see past the clay jars that we all are.  Give us vision to see the treasure inside…a treasure that is untouched and eternal and beautiful.

So with all that we have and all that we are we give you all the Glory Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever as we speak aloud, in one voice the prayer that You taught us...

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Amen.
