Pastoral Prayer - January 25th, 2015

Our God and Our King,

We indeed gather together to give you our thanks and praise.  To quite literally lift up our voices and sing to you how great you are.  To remove our self-imposed crowns and offer them to you.  To get down on our knees and say that you are maker of this world and you are the boss of our lives.

Savior of the world, forgive us when we all to often proclaim with our voices that all honor and power belong to you, but proclaim with our actions that…in reality…that attention and ability are all ours and ours alone.  Forgive us when we claim your forgiveness, grace, and mercy for ourselves…but withhold those same gifts from others…not just from those in this world that we have decided don’t deserve it…but from those that we know deserve it…yet we still keep it all to our selves.

Spirit of Truth, we need to you expose and breakdown those dividing lines that exist in our minds and our hearts.  Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to change so that we may listen not only when you speak, but when your people speak.  So we may pray for those that are struggling with their health, so that they might be healed.  So we can act when we encounter those that are in physical, mental, and spiritual that they will be made whole again.

Thank you for being a God & King that will take three steps toward us, when we make just one.  We are forever grateful that you do not want to love or change the world without us. It is because of this that you are indeed so worthy of all the honor, glory, and and forever…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as we literally lift our voices as one church to humbly proclaim.  You are…..

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
