Heavenly Trailblazing Father,
We thank you for this day and your presence with us here in this place. We thank for your being present and hovering over creation at the beginning of time and space. Most of all Abba, we thank you for being before the beginning of time…before the Big Bang…and whether it was a whisper or a bang…thank you for speaking our Universe into existence and saying at the end of it all that it was good….better than that you said it was very good.
And you were there Jesus…you too saw it was good…you were responsible too for making it that way…..And you were there when it became not so good. When we decided that our ways were better than your ways. When we decided that our thoughts were better than your thoughts. So we ask for your forgiveness…forgive us for not loving others as much as we love ourselves, forgive us for not loving you with our whole heart, mind, and strength. Forgive us for the moments we try to cover up your light and keep it to ourselves, instead of testifying to it and sharing it with others.
So Spirit…we humbly yet boldly ask that you move into us as Jesus moved into our world. We invite you to dwell in our rundown, dilapidated, condemned souls and make them new. Renovate them from the inside out so that we may be thinkers of your thoughts and doers of your ways. That we will love those around us, even those we don’t want to love. That we will love you with all that we have and all that we are...so that the blind will see, so that the deaf will hear, so that the lame will walk, and so that the sick will be miraculously healed for all the world to see.
So move again creating and always creating God. Move in this place, move in our homes, move in this world. As we move our collective mouths to speak the moving prayer that Jesus taught us to pray, saying...
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
